Public Transport
Nottingham has great transport links to major cities across the UK including London, Northampton, Oxford, Bristol, Cambridge, Leicester, Birmingham, Sheffield, Leeds, and Manchester.
Coaches are likely to be the cheapest option. Coaches to Nottingham are ran by National Express and Megabus, with the latter being significantly cheaper when available. Coaches here usually arrive at Broadmash Bus Station which is a short ten minute walk to our venue.

Trains should be faster than coaches, and can even be cheaper if booked far enough in advance. In cities with multiple stations, routes are available from London St Pancras, London Kings Cross, Birmingham New Street, and Manchester Piccadilly. Routes with extra changes can often be significantly cheaper than direct tickets, especially from London. The idiotically named yet helpful Tickety Split tool from Money Saving Expert can identify these situations.
Parking Information
Nottingham is one of the more expensive cities to park in within the UK relative to its size, mostly due to Nottingham City Council charging a levy on all parking spaces in the centre. However there are still inexpensive options available if you allow yourself some extra travel time!
There is very limited on-street pay-and-display parking available directly at, and nearby the venue. These options are often full at busy times, but are relatively inexpensive by Nottingham standards - £1 per hour depending on location. Check the map below if you intend to utilise this.

Several multistory car parks are a short walk to the venue. This is easiest option but will be the most expensive one if you're not careful, typically £15-£20 per day. Broadmarsh Car Park and NCP Lace Market Car Park are two of the closest options to the venue, a 5-10 minute walk away. NCP Maid Marion Way is on the other side of the city (around a 15 minute walk) but costs only £4.50 per day.
The cheapest way to park in Nottingham is usually in one of the Park and Ride car parks on the outskirts of the city. Unfortunately this is also the most inconvenient. These car parks are connected to the centre either by bus or by tram, and due to these bus links stopping at awkward times it is highly advisable to use one connected via tram. If you have visited Nottingham before, please note that tram tickets must now be purchased from machines at the stops rather than aboard the tram from the conductor.
International Visitors
Here is basic information for anyone intending to travel to Fist of the Notts Star from further afield! Due to the cost of train tickets, players from Scotland who are considering attending are probably in this category.
The closest airport to Nottingham is East Midlands Airport (EMA) which has low cost links to a fairly random selection of UK and EU airports. There are frequent and inexpensive links to the centre of Nottingham via the Skylink route ran by Trent Barton.

Other airports that could be considered to serve Nottingham are London Luton Airport (LTN) and Birmingham International Airport (BHX), both of which are a relatively easy train ride away from Nottingham taking roughly 90 minutes. National Express also provides links to these airports and others.
If you're travelling internationally you'll probably be staying here a night ot two. Nottingham has many branded hotels which typically cost around £50 per night. At the time of writing, the FCG favourite Airbnb doesn't serve Nottingham especially well and hotels are likely to be a better bet. The two closest hotels to the venue with sensible pricing are Premier Inn and Jurys Inn.
Lastly if you want to try your hand at couchsurfing (the secret FGC favourite) your best bet is the join the Facebook group and ask in there. The Nottingham FGC is fairly well connected and while there's no guarantees here we'll try our best to accommodate!
Food in Nottingham
Nottingham plays host to the usual range of boring fast food and restaurant chains you'd find in any UK city. If you'd like a more local flavour, check out the following:
Pizzeria Savai
The home of the Hoods in Nottingham! No longer our tournament venue but it's just around the corner from the National Ice Centre, and still comes highly recommended!
Savai serves a wide selection of Italian food but as you'd expect from the name, they specialise in pizza made fresh in the authentic Italian oven which is the centrepiece of the restaurant. Probably the best pizza in Nottingham!
